Here is list of some SEO basics. Follow these basics when you design any new site or upgrading existing one.
1) Domain name:
Choose relevant domain name. Try to have short and relevant name.
2) Navigations:
Site navigation should be simple and user-friendly. Content should have enough space for breathing.
3) Flash:
Do not use flash pages. Possibly avoid flash programming because crawling flash pages is difficult for search engine robots.
4) Frames:
Avoid site design using frames. Most of the search engine robots could not crawl sites having frames.
5) JavaScript:
Avoid too much use of JavaScript.
7) Check your page loading time:
Avoid using large size images on pages. Check your page loading time. Optimize pages to load faster.
8)Incoming Links:
Most important if you want high page rank. Concentrate on good incoming links from your niche.
9) URL format:
Possibly avoid dynamic url's. Static urls are best for SEO.
10) Content:
Update your content regularly. Decide on which topic you want to promote your site first. Accordingly use keywords in your posts. Use TITLE, Keyword and Description tags efficiently.
Follow these simple tips and you don't need to pay even a single penny for SEO!!
